Booked & Busy: Your Guide to Growing a Lash Client Base

4 minute read

Let’s face it, building a lash business from scratch can feel a little scary at first. You’ve got the skills, the passion, and the drive… now you just need the clients. Don’t stress! Here are some tried-and-true ways to start filling up your books, even if you’re brand new.

1. Always Keep Cards on You

Business cards or little discount cards can go a long way. Hand them out at the coffee shop, drive-thru, petrol station—wherever you go! Leave a few in places people might spot them. You never know who’s looking for a new lash tech.

Tip: Use Canva to easily design your business cards, then head to Vistaprint to get them printed at affordable prices!

2. Post in Local Facebook Groups

Jump into local community or neighbourhood groups on Facebook. They're full of potential customers, and many allow small business promos on certain days.

Tip: Look for mum-focused groups — they’re massive and super engaged!

3. Offer Model Sets to Build Confidence & Content

When you’re just starting out, offering a few discounted or free sets is a great way to build your portfolio, gain confidence, and improve your speed. Ask friends to be lash models—they’ll get beautiful lashes, and you’ll gain hands-on practice, glowing reviews, and fresh content to share online.

Tip: Don’t forget to use super bright lighting to capture the best photos! Our Half Moon LED Light offers the perfect settings, and paired with our Macro Lens, you’ll get ultra-detailed, zoomed-in shots. Then, use apps like Facetune and CapCut to make your photos and videos pop.

4. Show Up on Social Media

You don’t need a huge following—just be consistent. Share your lash setup, tips, before-and-after results, or even a time-lapse video. Keeping your profile active helps people remember you. Make sure your Instagram works for you, too!

Tip: Keep your bio clear with your location, what services you offer, and how to book. Use Highlights to showcase your best work, pricing, and key info—so new clients can get to know you at a glance.

5. Reward Loyalty and Referrals

Word of mouth is one of the best ways to grow. Set up a simple referral program—offer $10 off when a client refers a friend. At the same time, give them a reason to stay loyal! A punch card or points system (like “get your 6th infill free” or “free full set after 10 visits”) makes clients feel valued and keeps them coming back.

6. Get Listed on Google

Make sure your business is on Google Business Profile. Ask happy clients to leave reviews there too—it helps locals find you when they search “lash tech near me.”

Tip: It takes consistent effort and time for Google to push your profile to the top! Make sure to fill out all available information, upload your profile and offers, and consistently add new photos. After a few months, you’ll start to see your business appear in search results—just be patient!

7. Partner with Other Local Businesses

Reach out to nearby hair salons, nail salon, or makeup artists. You can leave each other’s flyers, give client referrals, or even team up for giveaways or bundles. Collaboration = community.
